Description

In this study, we applied 3D finite element models to quantify the potential magnitude of tidally induced fault motion that a cryobot and communication hardware could experience in the ice shell at Europa during a subsurface mission. This repository includes the tidal stress and tidal displacement datasets that were used to run each of the static and time-dependent models described in this publication. The tidal datasets are also specific to geographic coordinates corresponding to the Subjovian point (0deg, 0deg) and Thera Macula chaos terrain (50degS, 180degE). Stress data include the six components (normal and shear) of the tidal stress tensor, and displacement data include the three directional components (X, Y, Z) of the tidal displacement vector.
